Emberson Marketing’s Creative Services Manager, Maria Hedge, is running the South Downs Ultra 100-mile run with a friend on 27 and 28 May to raise money for a very worthy charity – Cancer Research UK.Maria and Jacqui running

The ultra run through the beautiful South Downs National Park, starts at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Petersfield and finishes over the iconic Beachy Head cliffs of Eastbourne. Described by the organisers as ‘beautiful’, ‘stunning’, picturesque’,  Maria imagines that a few different words might come to mind as the miles roll by, the blisters appear and the lack of sleep takes effect!

Well known in the team at Emberson for ‘popping out for a short run’ at the weekend (which most people would consider to be tantamount to a marathon), Maria is no stranger to long-distance running, but on this occasion has decided to raise funds for the life-saving work carried out by Cancer Research UK.

Maria says, “Unfortunately, we all know what cancer is, what it does, what it takes away from us, and why we must keep fighting it. That is why we have decided to not just take part in this insane event for the fun of it (!), but to put ourselves through this madness for a very good reason. Cancer Research UK carries out life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. Hopefully one day with their pioneering work, ‘together we can beat cancer’.”
