Emberson celebrates commitment to Real Living Wage

Emberson has become an accredited Living Wage Employer

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living and it provides a voluntary benchmark for employers.

Clare Pratt, CEO, Emberson Group, said: “At Emberson we aim to make a meaningful difference for all our stakeholders, and we always put people first. Although we have always paid well in excess of the real Living Wage, we felt it was important to recognise this officially.

“We also wanted to lend our support to the movement to encourage more employers to commit to paying their employees a wage they can live on, and not just the government minimum. Currently in the South West 11.8% of all jobs pay less than the real Living Wage. That’s around 285,000 jobs and we’d love to see that change”.

Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Emberson Group has joined the movement of over 14,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.

“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry and Barclays, and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Emberson, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”
