Clare Emberson Pratt, Group Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to publish this inaugural report. It highlights the Group’s continued commitment to creating a sustainable group of companies that make a positive impact.”
She continued: “Emberson Group’s overarching goal is to play its part in creating a better future. We do this by operating a profitable, world-class business that serves environmentally-conscious clients working towards making a better future for us all. Our Impact Report tracks how we are doing this.”
The report details how the Group will focus on economic security to generate an operating profit of £750,000 from sales of £5 million by 31 March 2025.
It outlines the Emberson Sustainability Fund, which rewards and recognises the Emberson team by reinvesting a minimum of 20% of profits into the wellbeing and sustainable development of our communities and environment.
It also looks at how the Group plans to achieve net zero and eliminate the environmental impact of its operations by 31 March 2024.
These and other actions and objectives form the core of the strategy to achieve B Corporation status by 31 March 2025. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.
The Impact Report grew out of an internal materiality assessment Emberson Group carried out in the summer of 2020 to understand the social and environmental topics that mattered most to its employees. The responses to open-ended questions fell into three overarching themes: people, profit and planet.
Publication of the inaugural report was delayed by the pandemic, but assessments will be carried out each year from now on, and the resulting company Impact Reports will track progress and set new targets.
Clare concluded: “Ultimately, we want to make a better future for all, including the generations we have not yet met, rather than just an increase in profits. Our Impact Reports will keep us on track and hold us accountable to our commitment.”
