The world is in a state of transition. The pandemic is far from over and the climate crisis continues to loom amid tremendous political unrest, yet it has and continues to be, a time of great endeavour.
The next decade will continue to feature significant change, with critical net zero targets to be reached, coupled with the pace of technological innovation – we are living in a pivotal era.
As such, at Emberson, we are helping clients adapt to new markets and navigate their way with new customer driven digital demands.
Our purpose is to make life better, for our people: employees, customers, partners and communities. Creativity, as a core Emberson value, is channelled through every level of our business through a constant process of evolution, which allows us the agility to pre-empt the level and type of support our customers need. Working with brilliant global and local engineering and technology companies in energy, software, medical, insurance and transportation, we forge close bonds with our clients as they work hard to live up to their purpose too.
Our sustainable journey to make life better is not linear. It has been in development over the last decade in various forms, but progress has ramped up considerably over the last two years during the pandemic, with a potted history of highlights:
Our sustainability strategy was formed from a materiality assessment with employees, carried out in August and September 2020, where three clear themes were highlighted:
Following the materiality assessment, our companies were encouraged to prepare their business plans for 2021 – 2022 against the three objectives:
As the pandemic hit, it was clear that our strategy development would need to be a marathon, not a sprint. To respond to client demands we needed all hands to the pump. Our people responded with determination, drive and collaboration. The individual businesses with the group came together and operated as one team.
It clearly demonstrated that to be truly sustainable, in the long term, we needed to help our people regenerate to ‘make life better’. A model based upon circularity was devised, from which the Emberson Sustainability Fund (ESF) was borne.
The B Corp framework and accreditation is now part of our sustainability toolkit and will help us all to stay true to our process of sustainable growth, development and improvement. B Corps are on a mission to create ‘a new kind of business that balances purpose and profit. They are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. We are excited to be part of a growing ‘community of leaders, driving a global movement of people, using business as a force for good.’
Our strategy supports five of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, which are interlinked global goals designed to be a ‘blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all’. They are intended to be achieved by 2030.
We will be publishing our first Impact report in the summer of 2022.
